The President Welcomes Relatives of Injured Military Members to White House
Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Incident
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Community members came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”
Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and cease issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of the Airman
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit his relatives.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had courage,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
