The airline Flights Grounded Across the US Due to IT Outage

The carrier halted operations because of IT outage

The airline grounded flights at airports nationwide on the day due to a technical issue.

The US carrier announced that it was "experiencing an system disruption affecting operations" and implemented "a temporary ground stop."

The airline did not say how long the disruption would continue or how many flights were affected. It said it was "working to resume our services" following the incident.

The ground stop also affected the regional carrier, which is a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines, as per an advisory by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airline, part of The airline group headquartered in Seattle, Washington, mainly serves on the western seaboard of the US. It connects 140 destinations globally, including 37 states and dozens of nations, as stated on its website.

Last year, the carrier joined forces with another carrier, which was unaffected by the day's ground stop.

It is the second IT outage impacting the carrier in recent months. In July, an issue disrupted operations for about three hours.

Alaska Airlines did not provide a comment on Thursday to requests for comment.

US air travel has been complicated in recent weeks due to federal budget issues that began earlier this month. Shortage of flight controllers reporting for duty has caused delays at multiple locations.
