Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
