Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault â including acts against children younger than 13 â spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official stated, âLegal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.â
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators called a âdetailed inquiryâ into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
